2007 Minkiewicz-Breunig Sporthorse Medallion, aka Reflective
Created 2007. Custom glazed by Leslie Kathman. Leslie describes this piece: "Karamel" is the first of Sarah Minkiewicz's new ceramic plaque depicting a Warmblood stallion. Sarah sculpted him, and he displays all the lifelike detailing her work is so well know for. I glazed him to a warm buckskin with an intricate, lacey tovero pattern. Although it is hard to see in the photos, his white areas are softly shaded with warm, creamy tones that bring out the lovely wrinkles on his neck. The background was done with slatey blue art glaze with subtle golden flecking, which really compliment the coloring on the horse. It's a larger piece - 5 1/2" across from the tip of his nose to the back of his shoulders.

Reflective plaque
Claybody custom WB plaque. Sarah describes this piece: I finished during Mayhem. This is a large plaque, with the circle diameter measuring about 4.25" across. He's signed "Claybody Custom '06" on the back, though I didn't glaze him until just this May! His background has pale Celedon Crackle glaze paired with a grey Lava Slate that has little speckles in it. A couple of those speckles did get into the Celedon area, but really don't make much of a difference, I think. In the grooves along the borders of these two colors is Aegean Sea to give a blueish tone to those crevices. Then over all the background went more Celedon Crackle to "glass" it all up very nicely. The original version of this plaque has a braided mane and tail, whereas this customized one has a loose mane and tail, which really changes him, I think.
